(Changed to Place type, per conv w CRH - rjaffe)

National battlefield site, National memorial, National monument, National park, National register of historic place.
The list of options presented in the Place Type field is based on Getty's Thesaurus of Geographic Names (TGN; http://www.getty.edu/research/tools/vocabularies/guidelines/tgn_4_6_appendix_f_place_types.html). Because the TGN standard alone has two parts, comprising well over 100 values - an unwieldy amount for a pull-down menu - we selected a representative set for our contribution. In addition, we added seven values: collection site, country code, general region, locality, national division (in TGN as division-national), state province and water-body (in TGN as "body of water"). Users will easily be able to configure the values as they wish.
NOTE: "City," which is in TGN, was omitted from the option list as originally contributed in favor of 'Municipality.' We expect to add 'City' to the options as part of a bug fix in an upcoming release.
