Wireframes - Templates

Corpus Templates

As a rule templates will only apply to various versions of Cataloguing Records (and name Authority Records (?)). Since Procedural Records generally contain a limited number of fields, and because any type of cataloguing record may be linked to any procedure, which may involve different users with different needs across the museum.

For works of art in multiple pieces; existing practice shows that when it comes to templates, the distinction between the collected work of art and its parts is inappropriate, therefore we only have one template for each artform serving both single pieces and works of art in multiple pieces, except for Installation Art and Artist's Books.

Visiting Works of Art

Visiting Works of Art v. 1.a (JPEG)

This wireframe shows a first version of the template for Visiting Works of Art. It derives from the Globus module Kunstværker på besøg, which has two tabs; one for cataloguing and one for administrative needs. Only the first tab is represented here since the fields of the other tab are to be found in the procedural records of Loan In, Object Entry, Object Exit, and Location and Movement.

Compared to the existing Globus module there are a number of additional fields; most of these because they belong to a group of fields to which the desired field belongs in CS/Corpus. The one exception is the Comments field, which might be useful in giving additional information on a given work of art (now that the Remarks field belongs to the related procedures).

Painting

Painting v. 1.a (JPEG)

In principle all fields are derived from Globus with the exceptions of; Responsible Department, Collection, Style, Topic (the same applies to Sculpture, Drawing, Graphics and Casts as well).

Sculpture

Sculpture v. 1.a (JPEG)

Drawing

Drawing v. 1.a (JPEG)

Graphics

Graphics v. 1.a (JPEG)

Photography

Photography v. 1.a (JPEG)

Currently there is no template for Photography in Globus, generally photography has been registered as graphic works of art. This template is a first draft of what may be needed in registrering photographic works of art. A couple of fields have been removed that one might argue could come in useful in certain instances; Watermarks and State Description. The first may be of relevance in connection with digital photography, of which we currently do not have any as works of art. The latter may be generally applicable to this medium, but is more a question of terminology.

AudioVisual Art (Film/video/sound/computer)

AudioVisual Art v. 1.a (JPEG)

Again there is no template in Globus for works of art in the collected catagory of film, video, sound, and computer arts. It is complicated to establish a commen label for works of art in this category. Here for lack of a better word this group has been labeled Audiovisual Art. However this term may be confusing to the end-user, since we have Audio-visual as a sub-category to Installation Art.

Multimedia Art was rejected as it seems too imprecice for this particular group of artworks following the AAT definition of Multimedia Works: Contemporary works of art that employ several distinct art forms, such as sculpture and music or painting and light art. For the concept that certain contemporary works merge known art forms to inaugurate a new type, use "intermedia." To indicate that works are composed of a variety of materials, use "mixed media."

Concerning the included fields in this template: Distinguishing Features (Omslag) was included for the description of for example a significant cover of the transmitting medium; such covers or the tranmitting media itself may carry an inscription or a signature, and hence the Textual Inscription group of fields has been included.

Casts

Casts v. 1.a (JPEG)

KAS Originals

KAS Originals v. 1.a (JPEG)

The fields in this template mainly derive from the Globus module Original værk; with the added fields of Responsible Department and Collection (for future use and possible autogeneration of number patterns), and Object Name and the Title group of fields to be populated from the Cataloguing Record of the related cast(s).

Regarding the Owner (Museum) field in the existing Globus Module, data will be mapped to the Current Location - External fields (SMK Extensions) in the Location and Movement procedure).

Note: This template is made for the cataloguing of the original works of art which the casts in the Royal Cast Collection were made from.

Installation Art

Installation Art v. 1.a (JPEG)

No template exists in Globus. This template gathered from existing samples of installation records, and from the existing Sculpture in Multiple Parts template.

Artist's Books

Artist's Book v. 1.a (JPEG)

In principle all fields derive from Globus with the few exceptions mentioned under painting above.
