Test 1: Advanced Search Fields
  • Actions:
    1. Create a new Pot Tag record
    2. Fill in the following fields:
      Family
      Common name
      Country Name / Locale
      Taxon name
      Print labels
    1. Enter "textbook" in the Common name field
    2. Save the record
    3. Print out the record to remember what you entered in each field
    4. Navigate to advanced search via the link next to the search field in the upper right hand corner
    5. Select Pot Tag in the record type drop down
    6. Enter what you previously entered into the Family field in the record into the Family field in advanced search
    7. Click search
  • Expected:
    • The Pot Tag record you just created should appear in the search results
  • Actions:
    1. Do this for each of the fields listed above
  • Expected:
    • The Pot Tag record you just created should appear in the search results
  • Actions:
    1. Search the Modified Date field for today's date
  • Expected:
    • The Pot Tag record you just created should appear in the search results Currently, you may need to search on tomorrow's date in the "Latest" column; see CSPACE-5476
  • Actions:
    1. Search the "Record last modified by" field for your username (admin@botgarden.collectionspace.org)
  • Expected:
    • The Pot Tag record you just created should appear in the search results
  • Actions:
    1. Navigate back to advanced search
    2. Select Pot Tag from the Record Type drop down
    3. Enter "textb*" into the Common name search field. (Be sure to include the trailing asterisk.)
    4. Click search
  • Expected:
    • The Pot Tag record you just created should appear in the search results
Test 2: Boolean field-based search
  • Actions:
    1. Create a new Pot Tag record
    2. Enter "Flower One" in the Family field (add the authority if it doesn't already exist)
    3. Select "Yes" in the Print labels dropdown
    4. Write "testtest" in the Common name field
    5. Save the record
    6. Create another new Pot Tag record
    7. Enter "Flower One" in the Family field
    8. Select "Yes" in the Print labels dropdown
    9. Write "testtest" in the Common name field
    10. Save the record
    11. Create another new Pot Tag record
    12. Enter "Flower One" in the Family field
    13. Select "No" in the Print labels dropdown
    14. Write "testtest" in the Common name field
    15. Save the record
    16. Navigate to advanced search
    17. Select Pot Tag from the record type drop down menu
    18. Select any (OR) from the boolean drop down menu
    19. Enter "Jane Doe" in the Current owner search field
    20. Select "Return of Loan" in the Exit Reason dropdown
    21. Click "Search" at the bottom of the page
  • Expected:
    • All three new Pot Tag records should appear in the results
  • Actions:
    1. Navigate back to advanced search
    2. Choose Pot Tag from the record type drop down menu
    3. Select all (AND) from the boolean drop down menu
    4. Enter "Flower One" in the Family search field
    5. Select "No" in the Print labels dropdown
    6. Click "Search" at the bottom of the page
  • Expected:
    • Only the first two new Pot Tag records created above should appear in the search results
Test 3: Boolean and Keyword Search
  • Actions:
    1. Navigate to advanced search
    2. Write "testtest" in the keyword search field
    3. Select Pot Tag from the record type drop down menu
    4. Select any (OR) from the boolean drop down menu
    5. Enter "Flower One" in the Family search field
    6. Select "Yes" in the Print labels dropdown
    7. Click "Search" at the bottom of the page
  • Expected:
    • All three new Pot Tag records created in Test 2 should appear in the results
  • Actions:
    1. Navigate back to advanced search
    2. Write "testtest" in the keyword search field
    3. Choose Pot Tag from the record type drop down menu
    4. Select all (AND) from the boolean drop down menu
    5. Enter "Jane Doe" in the Current owner search field
    6. Select "Yes" in the Print labels dropdown
    7. Click "Search" at the bottom of the page
  • Expected:
    • Only the first two new Pot Tag records created in Test 2 should appear in the search results
Test 5: Spend 3 minutes trying to break something and uncover bugs:
  • Spend a few minutes forcing the program to expose buggy behavior by:
    • using the system in ways not covered by the testplan
    • using the system in unexpected ways
    • doing whatever you can think of that will produce bugs and unexpected behavior.
    • Be creative!
    • feel free to extend this to behavior related to this testplan
