User Story

Through a TBD user interface, perhaps in part implicitly through CollectionObject Data entry, manage the reservation and recycling of identifiers (IDs) used to uniquely identify entities in the system.

This user story needs to be better understood and, if identified as a requirement, further developed.

Some possible scenarios:

  • A user wishes to "check out" a block of identifiers for a specialized purpose, such as for use in a research project or a collecting expedition.
  • A registrar wishes to prevent the introduction of "gaps" in identifier sequences, in part through re-use of available numbers earlier in the sequence.
