CollectionSpace project team members Carl Goodman, Megan Forbes, Jess Mitchell, and Colin Clark will be at the 2009 Museum Computer Network Conference, November 11-14, 2009.
Getty Research Institute and SFMOMA
CollectionSpace Principal Investigator Carl Goodman and Project Manager Megan Forbes met with staff from the Getty Research Institute on July 27-28, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art on July 29th.
Staff members from both institutions learned about the software, discussed ways to contribute to the community design effort, and participated in user testing.

CollectionSpace Principal Investigator Carl Goodman participated in the panel "Open Source for Museums: The Next Experiment in Museum Technology," at the American Association of Museums Annual Meeting.
Chaired by Jim Spadaccini of Ideum, the panel included "a frank discussion of the origin, forms, promises and potential pitfalls of open source software in the museum. See how open source software applications are being used in science, art and history museums." Additional panelists included Scott Sayre of Sandbox Studios, Tom Scheinfeldt of the Center for History and New Media at George Mason University, and Bryan Kennedy of the Science Museum of Minnesota.
A Conversation with the Ole Project
On April 23, at 3pm EDT, CollectionSpace project team members Megan Forbes, Patrick Schmitz, and Carl Goodman participated in a public webinar with John Little and Tim McGeary of the OLE Project. OLE is a multinational group of libraries developing the design for an Open Library Environment, an alternative to the current model of integrated library systems.
Presentation to the UC Berkeley BNHM-IST Partnership
Megan Forbes, Patrick Schmitz, and Chris Hoffman gave an update on CollectionSpace to the UC Berkeley BNHM-IST partnership, a collaboration between the Berkeley Natural History Museum consortium and Information Services and Technology.

Mellon Research in Information Technology Annual Retreat
Several members of the project team attended The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Research in Information Technology Program's annual retreat in February, 2009. Project Director Carl Goodman gave a presentation about the project's highlights and upcoming goals, and Co-Technical Lead Patrick Schmitz spoke about issues of collaboration and governance.

CollectionSpace project team members Carl Goodman, Megan Forbes, and Patrick Schmitz will be at the 2008 Museum Computer Network Conference, November 12-15, 2008.
From 8:30 to 10:00 on Saturday, November 15th, Megan and Patrick will be available for questions and discussion at the Open Source Case Study Showcase. At 10:30 on Saturday, Carl will participate in the "Opening It Up" panel, which will look at some of the specific costs and benefits - the how-to's and why-to's - of going open, and highlight recent projects that are moving institutions into the open source arena.
